Product Description GREAT WALKS 5 – THE LAKE DISTRICT – THE WASDALE ROUND

CAMERON MCNEISH is one of the Britain’s best known fellwalkers and editor of TGO magazine who has many broadcast programmes to his credit. In this programme he explores the mountains surrounding one of the most spectacular valleys of Lakeland – Wasdale.

DAY ONE from Santon Bridge via Littleground to Buckbarrow, with its unrivalled views of the Wastwater Screes, Cameron walks out to Pillar above the Ennerdale Valley by way of Greendale Tarn. There’s the ascent of Gable and walk in to Wasdale Head.

DAY TWO begins with the climb out to Sty Head and then by way of the Corridor Route and Broad Crag to Scafell Pike. Then the Fox’s Tarn Rout to Scafell after which we drop in to the Coffin Route and return to Wasdale Head.

DAY THREE takes us up from the valley to Illgill Head, Whin Rigg and Irton Pike, returning along the top of the Wastwater Screes to our start point at Santon Bridge.

On the way Cameron walks part of the way with Ken Ledward, mountain equipment tester and one time opera singer, Joss Naylor – the king of Lakeland fellrunners, and broadcaster Heather Larcombe who’s on her own exploration of the Lakeland Fells.
