Naylor’s Run and Iron Man
introduced by ERIC ROBSON - Two DVDs in a box set

NAYLOR'S RUN DVD featuring the legendary, record breaking, fell runner JOSS NAYLOR
Joss Naylor celebrated his 60th birthday by running the 60 highest peaks in the Lake District - all of them over 2,500 feet high. The run was almost 110 miles and involved nearly 40,000 feet of ascent - the equivalent of running from sea level to the summit of Everest one and a half times non-stop! Follow the pleasures and the pain experienced by Joss on his historic run and glimpse his hardworking life as a shepherd farmer in Wasdale.

A combination of spectacular aerial photography and film crews deployed on the high summits of Lakeland to record the historic run. Running time approximately 38 minutes.

35 miles, 20 Lakeland Peaks, 18,000 feet of ascent in under 15 hours and all at the age of 73!

A film of a unique physical challenge. Joss Naylor, retired shepherd from Wasdale, wanted to celebrate his fifty years of fell running. So on the longest day of the year he set off from Mungrisdale in the northern fells of the Lake District to run home to Greendale in the Wasdale valley.

Three films crews, each of them giving him about 30 years, struggled to keep up with him. Friends and family, fell runners he's competed with over the years and commentators like Richard Askwith, author of Feet in the Clouds, ran with him for part of the way, helped him through the pain barrier. The result is an uplifting and challenging celebration of the achievements of a truly world class athlete. Running time approximately 55 minutes. more

Great Walks: Coniston Range & Northern Fells
2-DVD Box Set presented by STUART MACONIE and narrated by ERIC ROBSON

Award winning television and radio presenter, STUART MACONIE, whose passion is fell walking in the Lakeland mountains, explores the Coniston Range of mountains in the Lake District. Stuart says "As a true Lancastrian, the Coniston Fells have always had a special place in my affections. They were the scene of some of my earliest mountain explorations. They're rugged, spectacular and full of fascinating quirks and corners. Returning to them for this project was like re-visiting old friends."

When Alfred Wainwright published his Pictorial Guide to the Northern Fells in 1962 he dedicated it "to those who travel alone, the solitary wanderers on the fells who find contentment in the companionship of the mountains and of the creatures of the mountains". Now STUART MACONIE experiences the high, wild expanses of these Northern Fells. Join him on a two day adventure in the hills introduced by ERIC ROBSON, AW's fell walking companion in the award winning BBC series.

Stuart Maconie says of the Northern Fells, "The Northern Fells are my favourite patch of Lakeland, my home turf as it were. Lonely but lovely, austere but charming, an oasis of calm and quiet even on a bank holiday afternoon. This walk takes in both the much loved giants like Skiddaw and Blencathra and remote, atmospheric heights such as Knott and Souther Fell. It's a corner of this stunning part of the world that has everything'.

Spectacular photography, good conversation and great walking. Total running time approx. 155 mins. A perfect gift. more

In Wainwright’s Footsteps 2DVD
The spectacular Lake District in a 2-DVD Box Set

Join ERIC ROBSON as he explores the beautiful Lake District during a lovely summer.

In 1938 pioneering fell-walker and author ALFRED WAINWRIGHT devised a walking tour in the English Lake District. For almost sixty years it was one of Lakeland’s best kept secrets, yet in its 102 miles and almost 35,000 feet of ascent it would visit and enjoy every major summit, valley and lake. In AW’s memory Eric Robson, his fell-walking companion in the award winning BBC series, has reconstructed the walk in eleven day stages and on the way met many of AW’s friends and admirers - among them his widow Betty and biographer Hunter Davies. Running time approx. 105 minutes.

ERIC ROBSON (and his sheepdog) explore the beautiful Lake District in great autumn and winter weather and take on one of the greatest long distance walks in Britain - 190 miles and 39,000 feet of ascent in 14 days stages through the spectacular outlying fells of Lakeland.

It’s a walk that AW himself could have devised as a way of exploring his beloved remote fells. There’s nothing he liked better than solitary days on the hill and this exploration of some of the finest and loneliest parts of Lakeland. Running time approx. 150 minutes.

Stunning aerial photography, good conversation and great walking. more

Wordsworth’s River Duddon
Eric Robson travels with Nell his border collie the length of one of Lakeland’s most beautiful but least explored rivers from source to sea.

The Duddon was William Wordsworth’s favourite Lakeland river. He wrote that “you could catch glimpses of Heaven in its clear waters“. It rises in bleak terrain high on the Wrynose Pass and for a while hugs the Roman road that connected Ambleside with the port of Ravenglass. It’s a river of contrasts and excitements, plunging into the Wallowbarrow Gorge, bubbling through Seathwaite and Ulpha, powering one of the great furnaces of Lakeland’s industrial revolution and then broadening to welcome the Irish Sea. Eric Robson’s Duddon journey captures the river’s moods and magic.
