Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Box Set
WAINWRIGHT’S COAST TO COAST WALK with ERIC ROBSON and ALFRED WAINWRIGHT
The Coast to Coast Walk long distance route was devised by Wainwright in 1972 and traversed what AW described as "the grandest territory in the North of England". The walk passes through some of the most beautiful and varied scenery in the country. Two thirds of the route lie within three contrasting National Parks: the rugged mountains and beautiful lakes of the Lake District, the rolling hills and pretty valleys of the Yorkshire Dales and the expansive heather moorland of the North York Moors, with dramatic coastal scenery at each end. Running time approx. 113 mins.

Well known broadcaster, Eric Robson, joins the master fellwalker, Alfred Wainwright, in this classic BBC series and shares the highlights of his 190 mile walk from the Irish Sea at St. Bees Head in the Lake District to Robin Hood's Bay on the North Yorkshire coast.

SEP10001
Wainwright Lakeland North Country DVD
An exploration of the Wainwright heartland.
When the young ALFRED WAINWRIGHT first saw the mountains of Lakeland it was an experience that changed his life. In the only television series he made in his lifetime, as an old man he recreated his love affair with Lakeland for the BBC in the company of ERIC ROBSON. They explored Orrest Head and Kendal, Haweswater and Borrowdale. It was a journey that culminated in an emotional visit to his favourite mountain – Haystacks. But WAINWRIGHT’S fascination with landscape took him far beyond the narrow confines of the Lake District. In a journey that awoke memories of days of youthful exploration he also introduced Eric to the Howgill Fells, tracts of limestone country around Penyghent and the high, lush Pennine valley of Teesdale.

On June 7th 1930 a young Alfred Wainwright set off from Blackburn on his first visit to the Lake District.
